PAHIATUA PUKETOI SPECIAL SETTLEMENT ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the member* of the above Association wa* held on Saturday last, in Mr Miller's shop, nineteen being present. The Chairman iMr Miller) stated that ha had given instructions to Mr Marehant t> procure 200 lithographic plans of the Assoeiaiion'* block, at a cost of i'10; laso that the committee had been 7ealnti* in their endeavors to get the Government to release tin Association of the price i>aid for land taken for township and suburban roads, but Government would not do so. The Association had been charged £1 per acre for all lands taken for roads and ro•erve*. with the exception of the Education lb .erve of 800 acres, the amount paid for which had been refunded ; therefore members would be credited with 18s each on account of that refuud. Proposed by Mr Kutehcr, seconded by Mr Henderson, and carried, “ That the Government be requested to vest the reserve* m five trwtee* for the benefit of the Assoc iation." A statement of accounts was read by the treasurer, showing that only twentyfour members had paid up their last call. It was resolved that the filial call should l>e made pay able on or before the 18th instant, and that member* be informed that in default of payment they are liable to have their names struck off tie 1 books and others substituted. A di*cii*Mou arose as to the last call, members not being able to understand what it was for. Tlie secretary informed those present that an error had occurred in the first total acreage and schedule price sif the surveyor, and on this he had based his calculations. Tbs Chairman here stated that member* could at any time inspect the books and ascertain for themselves how the call* had been arrived at, and also any other matter of finance. Ho blamed the members for not taking mere interest in the affairs of the Association. The committee had a large amount of work to do, and it was the duty of the members to give all the assistance in their power to further the interests of the Association. A discussion arose regarding the felling of road line*, and it was proposed by Mr Kutehcr, seconded by Mr Bottomloy, and carried, “ That the Chairman be empowered to see U> the felling of roads to the best advantage, and to lay a scheme before tho Until Hoard. Also, that the cost of the boat purchased for u*c at the Tiraumea river be charged to the rates, and that the matter be laid before tho Road Hoard with a suggestion that it procure a wire. *o that the boat might be used with safely in heavy Hood.” Proposed by Mr Fulcher, seconded byMr Syder, and carried, "That Messrs Briggs and Gibh* be appointed auditor* to the Association." After some discussion it was resolved that the Chairman interview Mr llallance on his visit to l’aliiatna and inform Inin of the requirements of the Association regarding a bridge across the Tirauuiea, and other matters. The meeting thou adjourned.
