Burglary at Halcombe.
COOL THIEVES
Masterton, Last Night, A burglary is reported from Halcombo, at the house of Mr A. D. Scott, who, with his family, had been away afctonding his father's funeral at Lower Rangitikei. When they returned they found tho house in a state of confusion, every drawer, box, and. package having been ransacked and the contents strewed about. The only article missed so far is a lady's gold watch and chain, valued at £2O. From the traces found it appears that a lamp had been lit and supper indulged in. The marks show that an attempt was first made to get in a sitting-room window, and then the back window pane was broken and the door unlocked.
