BILLIARD'S IN THE LION'S CAGE.

A sensational performance has taken place at the Stoke Hippodrome. where two local billiard players arranged to play a match of 25 up in the centre of a lions' cage. The lions, which were under the control of a lady trainer, sat round the cage on pedestals. Shortly after the game had begun one of the animals gave a loud roar, which so frightened one of the players that he dropped his cue. As the game proceeded the lions excited at the presence of the strangers, dashed round the cage in an alarming manner. The match lasted some 10 minutes, and the players were loudly cherred as they left the cage.
