Parishioners’ Meeting.

A meeting of Parishioners was held in the schoolroom on Monday last, Mr Edward jEnsor in the Chair, and the Meeting was opened with prayer, j . Minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. 1 Proposed by ■ Mr Venimore, and seconded by Mr Smith, That tfie report and balance sheet be adopted. Carried, Proposed by Mr Venimore, and seconded by Dr Drury, That Mr Reynolds be kindly ’ asked to audit the account. Mr Vennimore said he had canvassed nearly the whole of the district except Mahakipawa, wd W promises for about £ls per quarter in subscriptions, arid there was about £lO due from .subscribers at the end of June -last. • : The following accounts were duly passed. Mr Price, £2l6s 8d; George Hayden, £1 17s 6d. ' | , REPORT. . •’ ;The following report was)' then read • Gentlemen,—-In passing over our trust to the incoming officers for the current year, we are sorry to record a material falling off in the 'finances which have been placed at our disposal in comparison with the previous twelve months, and your Vestry has come to the conclusion that in such a widely scattered district it was impossible to collect subscriptions,; etc.,: by. voluntary assistance, and have therefore appointed Mr Venimore to make ; . a quarterly visit to receive the; various amounts promised, and we have already found the benefit of his earnest efforts. - The total amounts, received from offertories, subscriptions, and all other sources daring the past year was £9l 19s Bd, which has been disbursed as shown in the balance-sheet, ending June 30th, leaving a small sum in hand of £1 Os 2d. The Bazaar Fund had a balance to its credit at-the beginning of our financial year of £l4, and as the result of the Sale of Work, held last November amounted to £6214s 2d, your Vestry were enabled to have-the Church re-shingled,repaired, and painted, thus keeping our place of worship still out of debt, and after purchasing two new lamps, a balance

of £3 18s 2d remains to credit, which we recommend should be expended -in lining the vestry, which so badly needs. We have to congratulate the Parishioners for having now made the last payment due on the Parsonage Land; Account, but the balance due on the building remains the same.. Your Vestry regret very much ' that our popular Incumbent; had to seek the advantage of a change for the benefit of his health, and we hope to see him return with renewed vigour for .his duties, while, at the same time, we. deeply indebted to Mr Edward Ensor for so kindly and ably filling the position during his son’s absence. .

In conclusion we recommend a hea.rty vote of thanks be accorded to His Lordship the Bishop for his visits and lecture,' the Lay-Readers for their services, Mr H. L. N. Clarke as ChoirMaster, Miss Jones for playing the harmonium, the choir for their great assistance with the Church music, the Sunday School teachers for their- kind efforts with the children, Mr Venimore for his handsome present of the Tablets, Miss Ensor for her beautiful painting, and the Ladies for their laudable help in making the Sale of Work such a great success. We now ask you to join in wishing the Divine Blessing' may attend all our efforts to improve the welfare of His Church throughout the district, And remain, Yours, truly, ael i2T }. Church officerSi
