The Midland Railway.

A monster meeting was , held in reference to the Midland Railway’s delay in commencing the works at Belgrove, and resolutions were passed thanking the Government for having insisted on the company adhering, to terms of the contract,; and urging that the company be held to strict performance of the same, and demanding that the company shall proceed with the Belgrove aectionforthwith; also,calling on the members of the legislature to do all in their power to compel the immediate ‘undertaking ’of such a section,, and prevent the . alteration being made’’ in the' contract. Complaints were very frequently made that the land was being locked up, and settlement stopped in consequence of the Oompahy h6t going on with the work as ; provided ior, and a very earnest and* unihiit4keable expression of opinion was given. After the resolutions were carried, Mr Fell read a telegram from Mr Wilson, engineer of the Compeny, stating that if the ’surveys are completed as hoped, the contract will be let in October.
