Rust and Smut in Wheat.
TO THE EDITOB. Sib,—l notice that the New South Wales Government are offering a reward of £IO,OOO for a cure for rust and smut, and I submit the following receipt, which my father has used for over 40 years, and amongst whose crops rust is unknown Take 41b of lime, fresh from the kiln; 4gal of boiling water; put the lime into a tub, and dissolve and stir well. Add Igal butter milk, and Igal urine. Btir all well together till luke warm. Then empty your wheat on to a floor, making a hole in the middle of the wheat, pour the liquid in, and mix all together well, and let it stand all night. The following morning it may be re-bagged and sown.—l am, &c., John Davies. Havelock, May 5, 1890.
