Franco-Chinese War.
[HEUTBII’S TELEGRAMS. j Pabis, Dscember 12. Official telegrams from Madagascar have been published, and state that the French forces captured a fort containing five guns at South Vohemas, and that in an engagement which took place, two hundred Hovas were killed. The Senate have agreed to an additional forty-three millions francs for the French operations in Tonquin, In the debate which took place on the motion for credit, M. Ferry promised immediate action should be taken by Government to carry on the war with China, In the Chamber of Deputies last night the Premier (M. Ferry), made a statement regarding the Franco-Chinese difficulty in which he announced that the attitude assumed by the Chinese Government had defeated Earl Granville’s efforts at mediation between the two countries, and the parleying which had been proceeding was now at an end. M. Ferry stated that Government intends to pursue energetic measures in the prosecution of hostilities against China.
