[Own Correspondent.] Wellington, December 13. A four-roomed cottage at Kahvarra occupied by J. Badmead and owned by D. Cameron was destroyed by fire yesterday. It was uninjured. The origin of the fire was a defective chimney. The conditions of the direct mail steam service were gazetted last night. The Gazette notifies that the name of Louis Sinclair has been erased from the dentist registrar’s list for New Zealand. Sir Julius Vogel has instructed his solicitors to proceed against the l\ew Zealand Times for a long series of alleged libels respecting him. The proprietors will be served with a writ for L 10,000 as soon as the declaration can be put in form. H. H. Heyman, alias Lewis, the hangman, has been charged with inciting to murder a Chinaman named Campbell, The only witness was a Maori named Pekaman Apurou, an accomplice of the ? hangman, and the Bench held that there was not sufficient evidence to convict, and accused was discharged, but has still to to answer a charge of burglary. Government have received a cable circular relative to the Colonial Exhibition to be held in London in iS36, of which the Prince of Wales is president. Government arc taking the subject into consideration.
