[Feb United Press Association.] Dunedin, December 10. A public meeting in celebration of Wycliffe’s quintenary was held last night at Knox church. There was a moderate attendance and addresses were delivered by several spokesmen. A draught tournament’ will be held hi Dunedin on January Sth, and is expected to last a week or ten days. Several leading players from Victoria and New South Wales will compete, Wanganui, December 10. Mr- Ballance left for Wellington yesterday afternoon. Gbeytown, December 10. The Magistrate yesterday delivered judgment in the petition against the return of Arthur Guinness, for Paeroa riding. He declared the election null and void principally on the ground that votes claimed under miners rights had been rejected. Mr. Guinness gave notice of appeal. Christchurch, December 10. At an influential meeting of citizens held yesterday to arrange for a banquet to Sir Julius Vogel, the Mayor presided. An executive committee composed of most of the leading Christchurch firms and other gentlemen was appointed to arrange details.
