(Per Press Association.) Auckland, November 25. The house of Mrs. Sarah Bradley, Papakura, was burned down yesterday through a spark from a railway engine sotting fire to some scrub adjacent to the lane. Some platelayers and neighbors endeavored to arrest the progress of the fire but failed. Henry Moody, employed by the Melbourne Clothing Company, was committed for trial yesterday on several charges of larceny. Napier, November 25. A man named R. Claridge has been found dead at Mataretu on the track near his home, with a wound on his forehead. Alfred Lebst, a man in a respectable position at Hastings was committed for trial yesterday for stealing moneys from Beck & Co.’s Store, Hastings, About four o’clock on Friday morning he effected an entrance into the store by breaking the glass of the door. Timaru, November 25. A fire broke out last night in the old Presbyterian Church, which was being used as a storehouse. A number of old seats were burnt, but a quantity of furniture and other goods were got out before the fire got a good hold. The building was slightly injured. At the time the fire broke out a great tea-meet-ing was going on in the Oddfellow’s Hall next door, but the ladies and children kept their seats. Christchurch, November 25.

At the inquest yesterday on the body found in Lyttelton harbor on Friday, the body was identified as that of Thomas McCleary, laborer, who lived in Christchurch, and left his home ten days ago. His wife could not account for her husband having gone to Lyttelton. Hawera, November 25.

Robert Roskill, railway station-master at Normanby, has been arrested for embezzlement.
