[Own Correspondent.] Wellington, November 8. Legislative Council. In the Council yesterday The Native Lands Alienation Restricton Bill, and the Special Powers and Contracts Bill were passed through Committee. The Railways Authorisation Bill was read a second time.

House of Representatives. Prorogation. In the House yesterday The Premier stated the prorogation would take place to-day. Replies to Questions. Replying to questions Government said The appointment of an Under-Secretary for the Department of Justice could be dealt with when the re-organization of the Civil Service was completed. That a telephone station would be opened at Makaraka. That arrangements are being made for the construction of an alternative telegraph line between Auckland and the South to obviate the annoyance which frequently occurred through the interruption of communication. Third Readings. The Animals Protection Bill, the Sheep Act Amendment Bill, the Salmon and Trout Act Amendment Bill, and the Wellington College Reserves Bill were passed through Committee, read a third time, and passed. The Fisheries Conservation Bill was passed through Committee.
