(Per Press Association.) Dunedin, November 5. An inquest was held last evening on the news agent Walker, who out his throat and died four days afterwards. The evidence showed that deceased lay all night on thq floor after committing the deed. A verdict of temporary insanity was returned. Wanganui, November 5. A boy named William Ansely, aged 14, was drowned yesterday afternoon in the Wanganui River. He had gone to bathe, and it is supposed he had taken the cramp. The body was recovered within an hour after the occurrence. Nelson, November 5. At the Supreme Court, John McLeary, charged with arson, was acquitted after a trial lasting the whole of Monday. Christchurch, November 5. The half-crown stand on the racecourse is burned down. Some workmen had left a fire in a stove, and the wind blew the embers on a quantity of inflammable material lying about. Insurance, £5OO in the Union. Dunedin, November 5. At the Police Court yesterday “ Doctor ” Toke was committed for trial for forgery. This is a young “ new chum ” who protended to be a doctor, and was actually acting as house surgeon in the Dunedin Hospital for i some time.
