[Per United Press Association.] Nelson, October 30’ The whole of the balance of the unallotted shares (9000) in the Champion Copper Mining Company have been placed in Australia by Mr, Bayfield, subject to the approval of Mr. Vaile, of the English and Australian Copper Company, who proposes shortly visiting Nelson to inspect the mines. Lyttelton, October 30. A cow with five horns arrived at Lyttelton yesterday as part of Stevens and Abbot's exhibition. As the animal was from Sydney the inspector of cattle ordered her into quarantine, Blenheim, October 80. The Marlborough Agricultural and Pastoral Society’s Show was held yesterday. Sheep were not numerous, but exceptionally fine and valuable. There was a large attendance. Christchurch, October 30. The Hospital Board have decided to make an effort to erect an infectious disease hospital, at a cost of £l,OOO, half to be raised by subscription, and the other half the Board hope to obtain from the Government. The question whether the Convent and other Roman Catholic Church properties are liable to bo rated is to be brought before Mr. Beetham, R.M. The Board insists on rating them, notwithstanding that the Property Tax Commissioner desired the Board to remove them from the valuation roll.
