[Reuter’s Telegrams,] London, October 17. Six millions of 3 per cent. Consols have been converted into 24 per cents., and four millions into 2J per cents. Obituary—Timothy D. Sullivan, the wellknown Home Ruler and representative for Westmeath in the House of Commons. In conformity with the advice of Ihe Military Committee, the sum of £890,000 is to be assigned out of the Imperial exchequer for defence work in the Australasian Colonies. The works to be undertaken have not, however, yet been named. October 13. It is announced that lI.M. ships Nelson and Diamond are to be recommissioned, and will remain on the Australian station. St. Petersburg, October 18. The six officers and two women who were sentenced to death for complicity in the Nihilist conspiracies were executed to-day. Berlin, October 18. The death is announced of William, Duke of Brunswick, aged 78.
