[Reuter’s Telegrams.] Melbourne, October 11. Mr. Service and Mr. Griffiths (Premier of Queensland) have received telogiams intimating that the Imperial Government will shortly instruct the Commodore of the Australian station to proclaim a protectorate over the south-east portion of New Guinea and the adjacent islands. October 13. Arrived this morning—P. and O. steamship Paramatta, with the Suez mail. 11.M.5. Nelson will leave here almost immediately for New Guinea.
