[Per United Press Association.] Auckland, October 8. The steamer Triumph, which has now been made sound and almost as good as new, was floated out of the dock yesterday. Nothing definite has been decided as to her movements. At a Native meeting at Kawhia, the chiefs present agreed to take steps to see what can be done to have the land claims of the Kawhia tribes settled as soon as possible. Christchurch, October 8. At a meeting of the Ministers Association, a resolution was carried protesting against the employment of public property and funds by Parliament in Sabbath excursions. In order to provide work for the unemployed the Government have decided to open a road beyond Waiau towards Kaikoura.
