CORRESPONDENCE.

(We do not hold ourselves responsible for the opinions expressed by our correspondents.) TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I notice that you, following Mr. Aislabie’s advertisement, write of “ wedder ” mutton. Why “ wedder ” ? There is not such a word in the English language, to the best of my knowledge, as “ wedder.” The English word is “ wether.” The word “ wedder ”is Danish, not English. Is it in use in any part of England, the East Coast for instance.—l am &c., Inquirer. Gisborne, 3rd August, 1884. [ln scientific matters we usually bow to superior genius, hence we following the copy of the advertisement as supplied. The word is undoubtedly in use on the East Coast, vide Telephone. We are not aware of any law which prohibits us from using other than English words. —Ed.]
