His Excellency the Governor will preside at a meeting shortly to be held in reference to the formation here of a society for the prevention of cruelty to animals. A cable message from London, dated 26th instant, announces the arrival of the steamship Coptic at Plymouth, with her meat in excellent condition. Auckland, September 29. The Board of Education have dismissed o‘Donoghne, master of the Waikara school, for writing the secretary a letter deemed offensive.
Napieb, September 29. Dr. Fisher, who was appointed by the Government as medical superintendent of the Napier Hospital, arrived on Saturday, The Hawfce’s Bay Herald companionship held their annual wayzegoose on Saturday at Hastings, the occasion being the 27th anniversary of the starting of the Herald.
