BROWN & SMAILL’S FOUNDRY
Yesterday we had the pleasure of witnessing the initiation of an enterprise of an exceed ingly noteworthy character, marking as it does another step in advance, and anothei substantial landmark in the ultimate success and prosperity of the district. We refer to the casting of a number of articles of iron, p new branch of industry inaugurated by the enterprising firm of Brown & Smaill. The articles cast comprised sufficient variety to prove the experiment highly successful, including as they did a large pulley, and a great many other things down to stove lids. The articles were taken out of the moulds this morning and were found to be perfect in every part. Several of the castings are for machinery shortly to be erected by Messrs. Common, Shelton & Co. The work was carried out under the supervision of Mr. Frank Parker. We shall take an early opportunity of recurring to the subject.
