DEBATE ON THE FINANCIAL STATE MENT.
[Own correspondent.] Wellington, September 23.
It is expected the financial debate will be continued on Wednesday and perhaps also on Thursday, though both are private members’ days. It is expected that Mr. Steward’s Licensing Bill will be much opposed in Committee. There is a geneial feeling of dissatisfaction at the action of Mr. Rees advocating his own Bill and not supporting Mr. Locke’s Subdivision Bill. The East Coast Committee sat and heard the evidence of Messrs. Locke, Cattell, James, and others. There is a general feeling that the district has been neglected, and should have support.
