Howland, coach builder, has just completed a bath chair, which he intends offering as a present to Sir Julius Vogel, who wishes to obtain a handy conveyance to take him from his residence to the House of Representatives. The Borough of South Dunedin took a poll yesterday for a £lO,OOO loan. Only ten voted against it. and it was affirmed by a majority of over 120. Tauranga, September 12. The Ven. Archdeacon Brown died at his residence on Saturday last, aged 81 years. He arrived in the colony in 1826 as a missionary sent out by the Church Mission Society of London, and has been in the colony ever since. Almost on arrival he was placed in charge of the Tauranga station, and has continued here ever since. The deceased has been ailing for some time past.
