The Soudan War.
ATTACK AND REPULSE OF THE REBELS. BOATS FOR THE EXPEDITION. [Reuter’s Telegrams.] Alexandria, September 5. News has been received that the Arab rebels recently made a vigorous attack on the town of Kassala. They were, however, repulsed by the Egyptian garrison with heavy losses. London, September 6. A vessel containing a cargo of boats intended for use on the Nile, in connection with the projected British expedition into the Soudan, will leave London on Monday. The remainder of the boats will be sent to Egypt shortly. A letter has been received from General Gordon, in which he states he will defend Khartoum until 15th October.
