FATAL FIRE. INDUSTRIAL SCHOOL ON FIRE. [Per United Press Association.] Dunedin, September 5. A fire broke out at the Industrial School at Caversham. It was confined entirely to the schoolroom, which was of wood, and was detached from the other building. The schoolroom was a building about 80 feet long and 30 feet wide. The workshop and tools were also burned. All that was saved was a number of musical instruments used by the school band. The teaching apparatus, books, etc., were also burnt. The school was left locked up at 5 o’clock, and the fire which was left burning is suppoaed to have spread and occasioned the disaster*. Christchurch, September 5. Furniture, stock, etc.—£l,ooo in the Australian Mercantile Union. A four-roomed cottage in Montreal street has been destroyed by fire. It was occupied by William Booth, and owned by Mr. Parkerson.
