ANOTHER CHEMICAL EXPLOSION. [Per United Press Association.] Nelson, September 4. An explosion occurred at the Haven Road State school last evening. Mr. Debar was about to exhibit his dissolving views by the aid of oxhydrogen light, the room being full of children, when the gas bags burst with a loud report. Fourteen windows were broken, and also two fan lights. The children rushed out, but in an orderly manner, and so far as can be learned no one was hurt. Dunelin, September 4. Edward Power, a well-known miner, was drowned in the Arrow river, Lake County, yesterday. He fell off a foot bridge, and though he was a moderate swimmer, the current was too strong, the river being swollen with the recent rains. Masterton, September 4. The body of Hans Peter Petersen, drowned in the flood at Opaki. has been recovered.
