(Per Press Association.) Wellington, September 4. The Hon. P. A. Buckley, of Wellington, has joined the Ministry, but with what portfolio is not yet definitely settled. Later.—The Hon. P. A. Buckley has accepted the portfolio of Colonial Secretary, and will be sworn in this morning. Haukene, M.H.R., writes to his friends at Russell, Bay of Islands, that he is very much disgusted at the way members are wasting time at Wellington, and unless they go to work soon he will return home. Mr. Shepherd has given notice that tomorrow he will move “ That Mr. J. W. Steward be appointed Chairman of Committees.”
