NEW MINISTRY TO HOLD OFFICE ON SUFFERANCE. SPECIAL TELEGRAMS. [from our own correspondent.] Wellington, August 25. Mr. Ormond has been asked to fqrm a Ministry, but has refused, as his policy in regard to taxation would not be supported, which was to abolish the property tax, substituting an income tax, with a modified land tax to be localised. Major Atkinson has refused to work in a Ministry with Sir George Grey as a leader, but consents to let his Ministry disclose their policy. Mr. Wakefield has agreed to accept office in the new Ministry, which is expected to have a very short reign. In the end it is thought there will be either an Atkinson-Vogel Government or an Atkin-son-Ormond one. The new Ministry will most likely be permitted to retain office for a short time in order to obtain an imprest supply. The present appropriations expire on the 31st instant, and nothing can be issued from the Treasury till a fresh supply is granted. NO MINISTRY YET FORMED.
[Per / fs ICIATION Telegrams.] Nothing has yet been determined with regard to the formation of the new Ministry. The various leaders have been consulting their parties, but nothing has been made public.
