Earthquake.

[Per United Press Association.] Invercargill, August 21. A sharp shock of earthquake was felt at 12.48 yesterday, accompanied by a rumbling noise resembling thunder. Many people rushed into the streets. The vibration appeared to be from north to south. Bluff, August 21.

The smartest shock of earthquake ever experienced here, was felt at ten minutes to 1 o’clock, yesterday afternoon. A heavy report was first heard, resembling the explosion of heavy charges of dynamite, the distant rumbling being accompanied by severe shocks and vibrations, distinctly felt by persons in the street.
