W. D. Lysnar.—A meeting of creditors in the estate of W. D. Lysnar was proceeding when we went io press.
The Waihobl—The Waihora will not leave Auckland until Saturday. Mails.—Mails for Napier and Wellington per Southern Cross, will close to-morrow (Thursday), at 3 p.m. J. R. Scott.—We are informed that Mr, J. B. Scott consumed 1,000 feet of gas in the Masonic Hotel on Monday night. Pritchards. — The Pritchard Family’s benefit entertainment takes at Macfarlane’s Hall to-night. Woollen Co.—A new woollen company is projected in Wellington. Twelve thousand shares have already been taken up. Macfarlane’s Hall.—This favorite place of entertainment will in future be illuminated with gas, having been furnished throughout with the necessary fittings. A Fact.—A member of the Board last evening said he believed if the piles were taken away from under Adair’s store, it would fall down. The Board seemed unanimous on the subject. Small-Pox.—Several papers have articles on the probability of disease being diseminated through the medium of ready made English clothing, as much of it is produced in the lowest slums. Queen Mary.—The lecture to be delivered this evening at the rooms of the Gisborne Institute will be of more than ordinary interest. The subject has been treated by Mr. Warren in an entirely new light, and during the course of his lecture he will endeavor to show Queen Mary was a much more worthy woman than she has been represented in many quarters. New Light.—The improved light since the introduction of gas into the Borough Council Chambers was very noticeable last night. The extra illumination seems to have had a beneficial effect on tbe members of the Board, and enableds them to see the utility of pushing the business through without unnecessary delay and wrangling. The absence of two members from the discussion of an important matter was made a note of. Tologa.—Our Tologa correspondent informs us that the late rains caused considerable damage to the roads, as a consequence the mailman from Awanui had not rrrived in Tologa when Peters left with the local mail for Gisborne (Wednesday morning.) The river rising rapidly on Sunday night unawares, carried nearly all the local small fleet out to sea. All were recovered with the exception of one small boat belonging to Mr. Williams, and in charge of our local butcher and baker, which has travelled to unknown parts, on its own account.
