Attempted Murder.
[Per United Press Association.] Auckland, August 18. A case of attempted murder is reported from Maitahia, 20 miles from Mongonui. A young man named Lange was shot at and dangerously wounded by a Native, who has levanted. The Mongonui constable is in Auckland, having brought down three prisoners on Saturday, and he cannot get back till Wednesday. A Native constable has, however, gone in pursuit. No particulars are to hand.
