[reuter’s telegrams.’ Melbourne, August 15. W. Poppens, the absconding hotelkeeper from Wellington, was brought up at the Police Court to-day, and remanded until Thursday next, bail being allowed in £2OO. [Per Pre3S Association]. Christchurch, August 16. A fire occurred at Dowdall's corn store, in Tuam Street, last night. Insured for £l5O in the New Zealand office, and there is a policy of £l5O in the same office on the engine, boiler and chaff cutter.
