[Per United Press Association.] TiMARU, August 12. A lean-to, used as a furniture store by a Maori named Hall, and belonging to Mr. Mcßobie, was burned down this morning. Insurance on furniture, £5O in Standard ; and on building £5O in an office unknown. Wellington, August 12. Detective McGrath has left for Australia to bring the absconding publican Poppens to Wellington. An illegitimate infant named Davis, five weeks old, was found dead in bed yesterday. It is not necessary to hold an inquest, the mother having satisfied the Coroner that the child has been ailing from its birth. Auckland, August 12. Young Waymouth, who fell over the cliffs at St. George’s Bay, bids fair to recover.
