Deputation to Dr. Spencer.

[Per Press Association.] Napier, August 9. An influential deputation waited on the Mayor to-day, requesting him to again stand for the mayoralty. In the course of his address Mr. Cornford (spokesman) highly eulogised the Mayor for the prompt and efficient manner in which he had dealt with the small-pox case, and referred to the utility of a medical man occupying the position of Mayor when, as in Napier, the Borough Council was also the Board of Health. Dr. Spencer thanked the deputation and gave a favorable reply.
