The Supposed Wreck.

[Per United Press Association.] Dunedin, August 6.

The Mayor has sent the following telegram to the Premier “ Considerable anxiety is experienced here in reference to the supposed wreck at Preservation Inlet. Will the Government send a steamer from the Bluff or here to render assistance, if necessary.” No reply has yet been received. Wellington, August 6.

The Government a day or two back issued instructions for their schooner, Kekeno, to search in the neighborhood of Preservation Inlet for any traces of the vessel Mari Augo, or her crew. It has also been decided to send either the Stella or Hinemoa from here to-morrow to assist in the search.
