OSMAN DIGNA’S DEATH DENIED, ADVANCE OF GENERAL GORDON, HE OCCUPIES BERBER. [Reuter’s Telegrams.] Cairo, July 29. The rumours regarding the death of the rebel chief Osman Digna, which was circulated here yesterday, have been officially denied. July 30. A report is now current that General Gordon has been able to advance from Khartoum and, having defeated the rebels on the line of march northwards, has readied Berber and occupied it.
