Destructive Fires.
[Per United Press Association.] Dunedin, July 28. A four-roomed house was destroyed by fire at Normanby. Insured for £lOO, A store in King street was destroyed yesterday morning. Insurance unknown. At the fire at Hatton, King and Co.’s confectionery factory, a large stock of confectionery and ingredients was found to be destroyed, and valuable machinery rendered almost useless. The correct insurances are— Stock, plant, and machinery, £750 in the Hamburg-Madgburg, £O5O in the Equitable, and £650 in the Mercantile Union. Invercargill, July 28. Geo. Helms’ hotel and billiard room at Clifton was burned down yesterday morning. The fire started in the kitchen, and very little was saved. The hotel was insured for £6OO in the Standard. Stock for £5O, and furniture for £5O in the South British. Billiard room table, £lOO in the Norwich Union. Helms estimates his loss at £2OO over the insurances.
