The cost of the buildings for the Wellington Woollen Factory is estimated at £lO,OOO, and the machinery at £9OO. The Hon. E. C. J. Stevens, Canterbury, has bestowed £l5O of his honorarium on the Benevolent Association, and the remainder on the Avonside Sick and Needy Fund. An Invercargill paper says that Mr. Joseph Hatch, a candidate for that constituency, spoke 16 columns at his first meeting. In the paper in question the proceedings were boiled down to two.
