[Per Press Association.] John Ballance addressed the electors of Wanganui last night. The Princess Theatre was crammed. He received a vote of confidence by a large majority. Mr, Dargaville addressed the electors of City West and denounced Major Atkinson. Ho would follow Sir George Grey instead of Sir Julius Vogel, and was in favour of coastal route for North Island trunk railway. He condemned the appointment of Mr. Waterhouse as deputy Governor as a dangerous precedent, although the Hon. C. G.M. Waterhouse was one of a few men in the Upper House. He respected the Government. A vote of confidence'was carried. Mr. E. H. Goldsmith has retired from the contest for South Wellington in favour of Mr. G. Fisher. Mr. F. Frost retires from Te Aroah in the interest of Mr F. H. Fraser.
