[Per United Press Association.] CONVICTION FOR PERJURY. Blenheim, July 9. Thomas Flyn was convicted of perjury, with a recommendation to mercy. Sentence was deferred, pending the decision of the Appeal Court on the point reserved. Wellington, July 9. The Wellington Trust and Loan Company have declared a dividend of 8 per cent. FATAL ACCIDENT. A man named John Webbey, dairyman, aged 39, was found dead at the bottom of a cliff at Oriental Bay this morning. He left his home in search of cows at 5 o’clock this morning, and it is believed that he had an epileptic fit and fell over the embankment. An inquest will be held. THE LATE SUICIDE. Auckland, July 9. At the inquest on the body of John Beit the jury returned the following verdict “Deceased was found dead, with a bullet wound through his head, believed to be selfinflicted, but there is no evidence to show what state of mind deceased was at the time.” He had lost £6OO in Te Aroha scrip speculation. Deceased was a native of Hamburg. FATAL ACCIDENT. Thames, July 9. A fatal accident occurred at Totara Point. A lad named Charles Robinson, employed by the contractors for the Thames-Kopu Railway, was jammed between a wagon and the bank, and horribly crushed to death.
