Destructive Fires.

[Per Association Telegrams.] Dunedin, July 9. A fire broke out in a small cottage, which had been on fire on Saturday night, and this time the cottage was completely destroyed. It was occupied by a woman of ill repute, and was insured in the New Zealand for £l5O. A four-roomed house at Pine Hill, owned and occupied by William Johnston, carpenter, was burned down this afternoon. The house was insured for £250 and the furniture for £5O in the South British. Wellington, July 9. A fire occurred in Pirie Street at one this morning which destroyed two cottages occupied by Messrs. Hook and Duries respectively. The buildings were owned by Mr. Kershaw of Kilbirnie. The fire commenced in the kitchen of Hook’s house, and when discovered had a good hold. Hook loses the whole of his furniture and Duries only saved a few articles. Hook’s furniture was insured in, the National for £95, but Duries was uninsured, and the cottages wore insured for £lOO each in the Colonial. Wanganui, July 9. A fire occurred this morning in a small cottage, owned by Mr. Sorensen, and occupied ■ by a man named Breen. The fire was confied to the kitchen and parlour. It was insured in the London and Lancashire for £l5O and the furniture for £72 in the Fire Association.
