The debate on the resolutions of the Sydney Convention was resumed in the Assembly last evening, and the discussion continued till midnight; when Mr. Bowron moved for an adjournment. There is an increasing belief that the disease now prevalent is small-pox, though medical men are si ill unable to decide definitely on the point, RACE SWEEPS. Mr. Berry and the Postmaster-General have ordered the detention of letters addressed to advertisers of sweeps on the Melbourne Cup whose advertisement is published as from Dunedin, HEAVY GALES. Sydney, July 2. A heavy gale has been experienced along the coast, and the American ship Susan Gilmore, 1,204 tons, has been driven ashore at Newcastle, and is expected to become a total wreck. All the crew were saved.
