THE PROPOSED BENEFIT.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Having heard that it is contemplated to secure a benefit for myself rnd children by a performance of the Willmott CombinationI beg to decline acceptance of it whilst thank, ing the company most heartily for their kind and generous offer to assist me in my hour of need. My reason for declining is not because of personal feeling, but for this: —A number of ladies and gentlemen amateurs have kindly volunteered to give a concert under the auspices of the Mayor and Councillors, the Chairman and members of the Cook County Council, and the officers and members of the J Battery, as well as nearly
all the leading citizens of Gisborne. Again, whilst thanking Mr. Willmott for his thoughtful kindness, I can only say that I must decline to accept the favor sought to be conferrod.—l am > A'C.— Hannah Taylor. Gisborne, July 1» 1884.
