THE ELECTIONS.
It is reported that neither Messrs. Mac Keller nor Quinn will contest the Dunstan seat.
The fight for the Tuapeka representaton will be between Mr. J. C. Brown and Mr. G. F. Brown. We understand that there is to be a warm competition for the Eastern Maori seat, there being no less than ten candidates in the field. The contest will doubtless be between Mr. J. Carroll and Wi Pere, with every prospect of the former succeeding. Mr. DeLautour will, it is asserted, stand for Waikato.
A deputation has 'waited upon Mr. Swan son offering to run him, free of expence, foi Auckland City West.
Mr. A. Murdock will contest the Waitaki, and Mr. Thomas Ferns is also reported as a probable candidate.
Mr. J. P. Jamieson has retired from the candidature of Stanmore.
It is stated that Mr. A, Saunders retires from the Cheviott contest in favour of J. D. Lance, and will stand for Lincoln, where Mr. W. Perriman will retire in his favour. Mr. JohnKerriwill contest Motuekawith Mr Lavestan, and Mr. Shephard will probably have a walk over for Waimea.
Between 2,000 and 3,000 new names have recently been added to the electoral rolls for Christchurch and the suburbs.
