People who think too much money is spent on education will (says a home paper) be interested to hear that the French Education Budget amounts to six millions sterling; not only that, but there is a grant of thirty-seven millions sterling to be spent in a certain number of years in building 40,000 schools. The Education Minister was not in jest when he said in 1881 that ho hoped by the end of 1883 every French child would be receiving instruction. There is no outcry in France against this expenditure. There is no outcry in Germany.
