UNITED ANCIENT ORDER OF DRUIDS.
Last evening a Lodge of the above Order, under the Grand Lodge of Australia, in future to be known as the Turanganui Lodge, was opened. At 8 o’clock the officers and brothers deputed by the Grand Lodge to perform the inaugural ceremony, put in an appearance at th* Lodge Room, Bright Street, where already a large number of intending members had mustered, eager to be initiated into the mysteries of Druidism. The Grand Lodge deputies, Bro. Cassin (Past Arch, Albion Lodge, Napier), Bro. Barrows (Arch Druid), and Bro. Polkinhorn (Secretary same Lodge), were the officiating officers. About 25 members were initiated into the mysterious rites of Druidism, the ceremony being performed by Bro. P.A. Cassin, assisted by Bros. A.D. Barrows and Polkinhorn. After the initiation the following brothers were duly elected officers for the ensuing term :—Arch Druid, Bro. Cassin (appointed); Vice Arch, Bro. T. Cotter; Secretary, Bro. A. J, Thomas; Treasurer, Bro. C. O. Fischer; A.D. Bards, Bros. Humphries and Fisher; V.A. Bards, Bros. Adean and Marshall; 1.G., Bro. Burnand; 0.G., Bro. Honeysett; Medical Officer, Dr. Innes. The appointment of Trustees was left over till next meeting. The officers elect were then installed in their respective chairs, this very impressive ceremony being ably performed by Arch Druid Bro. Barrows, assisted by Bro. Polkinhorn. After a hearty vote of thanks had been accorded to the visitors, with Druidio honors, the Lodge closed in due form at 11 o’clock, to meet on Thursday next, and every alternate Thursday.
