The following acceptances for the Hawke’S Bay Steeplechase Handicap, were received yesterday .—Clarence, Chandler, Bateman, Barbary, Scrutineer, Grey Momus, Diomedes, The Druid, Pastime, Morning Star, and Wild Dayrell. The following entries have also been received :— Maiden Steeplechase—Skylark, Coacher, King Arthur, Wild Dayrell, Pastime, Mangold, Assegai, Parnell, Home Rule, Scrutineer, Abolition and Diomedes. Ladies’ Bracelet — Gannymede, Incense, Mercury, King Arthur, Titerapanga, Seybella, Little Buttercup, Oberon, Home Rule, Lady, Artist, and Denbigh. [reuterr’s telegams.] FOOTBALL.—WESTERN DISTRICTS v. NEW ZEALAND. Sydney, June 11. This match was played at Bathurst to-day, and resulted in a fifth victory for the New Zealanders. The weather was showery throughout the day and the ground heavy, owing to recent rains. The local men were unable to oppose the visitors with any success, and the latter scored eleven points to their opponents nil, the first goal being kicked by Dumbell within twelve minutes from the commencement of the game. The play of the New Zealand team was very fast and much admired. Subsequently they were entertained at a banquet by the local club.
