MR. LOCKE AT TOLOGA BAY. Mr. Locke addressed the electors at Tologa Bay on Monday night. A large number were present. Mr. A. Reeves was voted to the chair, and introduced Mr. Locke to the meeting, who spoke for an hour and a half on the various subjects of interest. The meeting enthusiastically cheered the remarks of Mr. Locke during the course of his speech, at the conclusion of which the Chairman invited anyone present to put any questions. Messrs. Hale and Somerville having asked Mr. Locke several questions, Mr. S. R. Stewart proposed and W. Hale seconded, that Mr. Locke receive the confidence of the meeting, as a fit and proper person to represent the East Coast District in Parliament, which was carried unanimously. A vote of thanks to the Chair terminated the proceedings, which were very orderly throughout. MR. GANNON AT PATUTAHI. Mr. Gannon addressed the electors at Patutahi last night, and after his address received a vote of confidence. There was an amendment of thanks only, which was lost, though well supported. THE ASHBURTON SEAT. [Per Press Association.] Wellington, June 11. Nominations for the Ashburton Seat is fixed for the 25th June. The election takes place on July 2nd.
