The Annexation Question.
[Reuters Telegrams.] London, June 4. In its issue this morning the Daily News publishes an article on the New Guinea Annexation Question, in the close of which he states that the Government recently sounded one of the Australasian Colonies regarding its readiness to contribute towards the expenses in connection with the proposed establishment of British authority at certain points on the Coast of New Guinea. It states, however, that it is not likely that the Australian Colonies will vote money on such terms as would be acceptable to the Imperial Government, and it considers that the early exercise of British authority in New Guinea is not expected.
