HOTEL ACCOMMODATION.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—Seeing that an application is about to be made for an additional publichouse in the Borough of Gisborne, one would imagine that there exists a scarcity of accommodation in the town, when in reality such is not the case, as it is an undoubted fact that at present the supply far exceeds the demand for hotel accommodation, and is likely to remain so for some time to come. Besides, the site of the proposed hotel is (with the exception of a few yards) outside of the Borough boundary, and can only be called a portion of the County, and the evident stagnation in business at present is a sufficient proof that there is no necessity for any further inctease in the publichouse line. It is therefore hoped the Licensing Committee will not be led away by any misrepresentations, seeing the site is not in their district, and the county would naturally claim the rates for such improvements. Besides we require no hotel on the Whataupoko Block.—Yours, <fcc., North Gisborne.
