The Soudan War.

[Reuter’s Telegrams.] DEFEAT OF THE REBELS. Cairo, May 27. It has transpired that the Khedive has addressed a letter to Her Majesty Queen Victoria, requesting that Baker Pasha (Colonel Valentine Baker), may be reinstated to the position in the British Army which he previously held. Telegrams have been received from the Governor of Dongola, stating that he has defeated the rebels in the neighbourhood of Detteh, and has recaptured that town. May 28. It is announced that Zebeha Pasha has forwarded the Government a letter he has received from General Gordon, in which the latter insists on his (Zebeha’s) immediate return to Khartoum.
