J REUTER’S TELEGRAMS.] AQUATICS.—HANLON V. LAYCOCK. Sydney, May 22. The sculling match between Hanlon and Laycock took place on the Nepean River this afternoon, and resulted in a victory for the former by half-a-lengfh. Hanlon never exerted himself, and won as he liked. Later.—The following are the details of the boat race this afternoon:— For the first quarter mile the boats were level. The competitors both appealed to bn rowing a waiting race, lianlan then increas'd <peed, and at the half mile was leading by ‘two lengths. Laycock then spurted, but H.inlan answered, apparently without exerting himself, and kept the lead for the remaind.-r of the race, finishing half a length ahead. Time, 22 min. 45 secs. There was a large attendance of spectators.
